Bringing Purpose and Strategy Together
About Me
With over 26 years of progressive leadership in Fire and Emergency Services, I bring a unique blend of operational expertise, administrative insight, and a people-first approach to public service. As Deputy Chief and former Battalion Chief of Administration for one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, I’ve led transformative initiatives in behavioral health, employee engagement, professional development, and organizational culture.
I believe in leading with transparency, listening with intention, and acting with purpose. My leadership style is rooted in trust, accountability, and continuous growth—for myself, my team, and the community we serve.
Leadership Highlights
Behavioral Health Advocate: Launched department-wide mental wellness initiatives, integrating a Licensed Clinical Social Worker into the Fire Department, and using peer support for routine care of firefighters.
Culture Builder: Created “Professional Development Sessions” to foster mentorship, communication, and professional development across all ranks.
Process Innovator: Streamlined internal investigations, improving fairness, responsiveness, and accountability. Also worked to reduce lost work hours due to on-the-job injuries by negotiating timelines for diagnostic imaging and appointments with treating physicians.
Diversity Champion: Co-chaired an Inclusion & Diversity Committee to promote education, cohesion, and service excellence.
Guiding Principle:
Nam Qui Non
Leadership is not passive, and it doesn't just happen. It is a call to act—for those who cannot. I lead to stand in the gap for others, challenge the norms, and serve authentically with purpose. DK
